My Pathetic Congressman

On January 27, 2014, I wrote to my representative, Andre Carson, 7th District in Indianapolis, asking him to support legislation that would remove forced abortion funding from our healthcare premiums.

Dear Rep. Carson,

I am writing to request your support for HR7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. This bill is needed to protect citizens, both born and pre-born.

Although President Obama signed an executive order barring abortion funding in the Affordable Care Act when the law was passed, in 2012, the HHS quietly inserted an abortion surcharge into the law. Worse, last November, Secretary Sebelius testified before the House that people could look on the healthcare.gov web site to learn which insurance plans contain the required abortion payments. Despite her promise, however, this information has not been found anywhere on the site.

In my own case, I purchased health insurance through my job last fall. Although I have requested it repeatedly, neither the insurance carrier nor my employer will give me a copy of the full insurance plan booklet. Because of this lack of cooperation, I may already be paying into the abortion fund on behalf of everyone in my family, including my minor daughters. This is simply unacceptable.

HR 7 is needed not only to protect the conscience rights of every citizen, but also the lives of innocent children and their mothers. No citizen should be compelled to pay into an abortion fund, yet so far, the HHS is requiring us to do just that.

Abortion is never a right. Rather, it is always a tragedy. No woman ever wants to abort her baby. Please vote for HR7, and put an end to abortion funding in healthcare.

It took Carson and his staff more than six weeks to answer, complete with inaccuracies and support of a dead bill from 2010 that advocates teaching kids comprehensive sex education, not abstinence, or any limits on abortion.

Dear Mrs. :

Thank you for contacting me to voice your opinion regarding abortion. The opinions and concerns of my fellow Hoosiers are essential to the decision making process as a Member of Congress.

Since the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision in 1972, abortion has become one of our nation's most divisive issues. While I support a woman's right to choose, I also believe that every effort should be made to reduce the frequency of abortions. That is why I supported the Reducing the Need for Abortion and Supporting Parents Act, which will increase funding programs that seek to reduce teen pregnancy, educate about adoption, and otherwise minimize requests for abortions. I sincerely hope that this legislation will help all Americans find common ground on this issue.

I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this important issue and I hope you will continue to contact my office on future issues. I encourage you to visit my website at http://carson.house.gov where you can view the latest news and updates about pertinent issues and legislation important to you, or follow me on Twitter @RepAndreCarson. You may also sign up for my weekly e-newsletter The Carson Courier to receive periodic updates on my activities in Indianapolis and in Washington, D.C. As always, my staff and I are here to serve you. Please feel free to contact me if we ever can be of further assistance to you.
Sincerely,

André Carson

The Abortion Mandate

While everyone has been busy since February wringing their hands over the government's attack on religion, the HHS quietly slipped in another mandate--free abortions.

Here's how it works. Beginning on January 1, 2014, families who earn up to 400% of the federal poverty level (i.e., less than $92,000 per year for a typical family of four) will be eligible for federal subsidies of our health care coverage, whether purchased through an employer or in the new state health exchanges. Since most middle-class families earn far less than $92,000 per year, our health insurance will almost certainly be subsidized under Obamacare, and we will be required to pay a monthly surcharge to cover abortions, or rather, "abortion services," as our benevolent HHS prefers to describe them. No one will be allowed to opt out, and to make matters worse, the surcharge amount will not be listed separately on the monthly bill. The only time people might find out about it will be during open enrollment, provided we take the time to read the fine print in the enrollment plan.

This new rule also dances around the state opt-out laws. Even if states have enacted laws to avoid subsidizing abortions in the insurance exchanges, the premiums will still be collected and given to states that don't have such laws.

The best article I've found to explain this new abortion mandate is from National Right to Life News:

http://www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2012/03/hhs-issues-new-rule-on-obamacare-scheme-to-fund-abortion-insurance/

This is the largest expansion of abortion since Roe vs. Wade, and Obama and Sebelius have put it over on us while we were busy worrying about their efforts to drive the Catholic church out of the healthcare business.

Obamacare is all about control, and it seems the only "service" they will always provide--and make sure we pay for--is abortion.

Facebook Cowards

Facebook had a dilemma last week. A woman named Rebecca Gomperts, founder of Women on Waves, filed a complaint with Facebook. Women on Waves, in case you haven't heard of this group, is actually a ship--an abortion ship. Rebecca and her minions travel the world and park their abortion ship in international waters off the coasts of countries that have outlawed abortion. Then they recruit unsuspecting young women to come on board and kill their children.

That's not all though. Rebecca, a pro-abort to the core, used her Facebook profile picture to post instructions on how to commit a self-abortion. See, all you do is obtain an arthritis drug, misoprostol, also known as Cytotec, and just lie to the doctor and the pharmacy. It's illegal, but so what? Just tell them it's for your grandma's arthritis. Then you take it when you're all alone to kill your baby, and if you don't end up killing yourself with this thing, no one else has to find out. According to Rebecca, it's perfectly safe. So simple really. If it doesn't work, just go to the hospital and tell them you're having a miscarriage. No problem, right?

When this Abortion Queen posted this stupid picture, Facebook tried to take it down. But she complained and they caved immediately. They actually apologized for restricting people's "right" to self-abort with dangerous drugs obtained by committing a federal offense. To see a copy of the apology, as Ms. Gomperts bragged on her own website, click here. So now, any teenage girl can try to kill her baby in secret. That's real freedom, wouldn't you say? And we're all so proud of Facebook too.

Let's fix this. Go to Facebook, search for Rebecca Gomperts, and when you find her profile page, report it. Click on the Report/Block link on the lower left and select the option to report this page for illegal drug use.

For more information on the dangers of misoprostol as a medical abortion drug, read this blog by Moronic Prochoice Quotes, here.

Help us tell Facebook to get some guts and get rid of this page before babies and their teenage mothers both end up dead.

The Wonders of Obamacare

Back on Nov. 1, Jill Stanek posted breaking news on her site about Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast, a group of PP-affiliated abortion mills in Texas, exposing allegations of Medicaid fraud. You can read the story here.

In the comments section, Biggz opined that the government should pay for everyone's healthcare because it's the compassionate thing to do, taking care of the "elderly and infirmed."

I couldn't resist answering:

Biggz: government should pay for everyone’s healthcare, huh? Congress is completely exempt from the controls they’ve placed on the rest of us little people subject to Obamacare. That fact, more than anything else in that 2,400-page monstrosity, should tell you what they think of their own bill.

How about a few more juicy facts? The Secretary of HHS will have direct access to our checking accounts, can deduct payments any time they want, and they decide who gets what kind of care. For example, if you are over 75, you get no treatment for cancer. Try googling Judge David Kithil on Obamacare and see his list of all the wonderful “care” we’re going to get.

And if you think the individual mandate will work, think again. This tax is anything but individual. It’s the first tax not based on producing or consuming anything. As a single-income family supporting 4 children and an unemployed spouse, we will be paying 6 times the taxes–on one, dwindling income. I prefer the more accurate term, the breathing tax.

This is pure socialism. The worst part is, every egomaniacal politician out there is stupid enough and arrogant enough to think that if only we put them in charge so they can implement their pet schemes, socialism will magically start working and everyone will live in the perfect utopian society. Obamacare is the resurrection of the USSR, complete with full government control of everybody and everything. Socialism is all about controlling people, and Obamacare is the most socialist scheme invented since Lenin. Enjoy your “free” healthcare.

Healthcare at Planned Parenthood?

From the 40 Days for Life Campaign in Indianapolis:

During 40 Days for Life women or couples sometimes stop and ask Prayer Partners about where they can receive help with a difficult or unplanned pregnancy. We have a special brochure prepared for that purpose with contact information about The Gabriel Project and 1st Choice for Women. 1st Choice is a Pregnancy Resource Center where they receive free and confidential services, including an ultrasound projected on a 37" screen.

Recently a young woman and her husband came out of Planned Parenthood and approached Margie Schmitz, a sidewalk counselor, for information. After a short conversation, Margie directed them to 1st Choice for Women.

When they called for an appointment, Barbara (not her real name) said they were driving over from Planned Parenthood and wanting an ultrasound. The counselor told Barbara that she was glad she had decided against having an abortion. Barbara said she had not gone there for an abortion.

Barbara and her husband recently moved to Indianapolis from Dallas. During the moving process Barbara realized that she was pregnant - for the first time. She wanted an ultrasound to be sure the pregnancy was progressing normally while she was waiting for a doctor's appointment in Indianapolis.

Barbara thought she knew what Planned Parenthood was about. She believed that they cared about women and their reproductive healthcare needs. That's what she had heard. But when she went there and asked for an ultrasound, she was told that she could only have an ultrasound if she was going to have an abortion!

Thank God for 40 Days for Life, for Prayer Partners and for sidewalk counselors who really do care about women.
Dear United Way,

After reading your position statements on abortion and funding for Planned Parenthood, I am amazed at and disgusted by your evasive answer.   You are not being intellectually honest by suggesting that your local agencies can give to Planned Parenthood, the world's largest abortion-committing group, yet claim that you are not supporting the murder of unborn children in the womb.

If you took this attitude of "we don't support abortion but some local UW agencies do," and applied it to other controversial subjects such as pedophilia or human trafficking, society would rightly judge you to be criminals.  By the way, remember that earlier this year, Planned Parenthood affiliates in numerous states were caught aiding and abetting pimps and pedophiles engaged in just such crimes.

I have never given money to United Way, no matter how great the pressure in the workplace, and I will go out of my way to discourage others from wasting their donations on you as well.

I pray that you'll wise up and end your association with Planned Parenthood right now.  God is watching.

I wrote the above letter in response to United Way's word-twisting with regard to supporting Planned Parenthood while claiming not to support them.  To read their gobbledy-gook, click here. The more words they use, the more they know they can't justify their actions morally.  So far, I haven't heard back from them, but when I do, I'll post it here.  I'm dying to read their response, aren't you?

Pro-"Choice" is No Choice

If you haven't yet, you should read Abby Johnson's book, Unplanned.  She, like many in the abortion industry, believed abortion was acceptable before viability and considered herself "pro-choice."  One day in her clinic though, a woman who was 23 weeks pregnant came in insisting on having an abortion.  After trying to talk her out of it, Abby was forced to give this woman a referral to a clinic willing to do it.  The woman's excuse?  It didn't matter to her whether her baby was 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 23, or whatever.  She just was determined to get rid of her baby.  This abortion-minded mother understood completely the humanity of her child at every stage of development but didn't care at all.

The viability argument, like the term, "pro-choice" is a clever slogan designed to get people to accept abortion on demand even if they know it's a baby being killed.  As Abby found out first-hand, the only thing the pro-abortion crowd cares about is the money to be made.  That's the only logic they ever apply consistently.

Please don't give those in the culture of death a pass by using the term "pro-choice."  There's no choice for the baby, no choice for people whose health is seriously compromised, and no choice for the elderly either.  It's always pro-death.

Company Matching Gifts to Planned Parenthood

We have been boycotting Levi's Strauss (including PiperLime, Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy stores) for the last several years because they give grants to Planned Parenthood.  About two days ago, we heard an announcement on a pro-life news service that Levi's had stopped donating to PP, so we wrote them a quick thank you note.

Today's reply:  "Levi's doesn't give them grants any more, but we do still match donations from our employees."  In other words, we pretend not to support PP and abortion unless someone really wants us to keep doing it.

We're still boycotting Levi's.

Before you resume shopping at a store that says they've stopped supporting abortion, write them a thank you note or ask if they make matching gifts to PP.  If you think this sounds too strict and we should reward companies that only give small amounts, you've missed the point.  It's not the amount that matters.  Any amount given, even a dollar, means that Planned Parenthood can claim they have community support.  Don't let them get by with  it.

If you want to join the prolife boycott of companies who give money to support abortion and the culture of death, please visit the website of Life Decisions International at http://www.fightpp.org and purchase their boycott list.

Keep praying and fighting!

Open Letter to Groups that Give to Planned Parenthood

Dear CEO,

I have been a regular and loyal customer of your business for the last several years. In fact, I preferred you over the competition because of your employees’ helpful attitude and knowledge of the products you sell. Unfortunately, however, I will no longer continue to do business with you and your corporation.

Let me explain further. I subscribe to a newsletter from a group who does research into the donation practices of businesses throughout the US, and they informed me that you have recently donated to Planned Parenthood. The group who gave me this information is Life Decisions International (http://www.fightpp.org).

So that you know where your money is going, here are a few facts about Planned Parenthood.

1. PP commits more abortions than any other single entity in the United States.

2. 99% of all abortions involve dismembering a fully formed baby. Don't believe me? Read this description of abortion given in court testimony by the abortionists themselves:

First Trimester Suction Abortion
The physician will usually first notice a quantity of amniotic fluid, followed by placenta and fetal parts, which may be more or less identifiable." (From the medical textbook Abortion Practice – Dr. Warren Hern, p.114, in section on First Trimester Abortion).
***
“When we do a suction curettage abortion, you know, roughly one of three things is going to happen during the abortion. One would be that the catheter as it approaches the fetus, you know, tears it and kills it at that instant inside the uterus. The second would be that the fetus is small enough and the catheter is large enough that the fetus passes through the catheter and either dies in transit as it’s passing through the catheter or dies in the suction bottle after it’s actually all the way out.” (Sworn testimony given in US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison, WI, May 27, 1999, Case No. 98-C-0305-S), by Dr. Martin Haskell, an abortionist. He describes legal activity.)
***
Question: Can the heart of a fetus or embryo still be beating during a suction curettage abortion as the fetus or embryo comes down the cannula? Answer: For a few seconds to a minute, yes.
(Sworn testimony given in US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison, WI, May 27, 1999, Case No. 98-C-0305-S), by Dr. Harlan Raymond Giles, an abortionist. He describes legal activity.)

Second Trimester D&E Abortion
"The procedure changes significantly at 21 weeks because the fetal tissues become much more cohesive and difficult to dismember. This problem is accentuated by the fact that the fetal pelvis may be as much as 5cm in width. The calvaria [head] is no longer the principal problem; it can be collapsed. Other structures, such as the pelvis, present more difficulty….A long curved Mayo scissors may be necessary to decapitate and dismember the fetus…" (From the medical textbook Abortion Practice – Dr. Warren Hern, p.154).
***
“The doctor grips a fetal part with the forceps and pulls it back through the cervix and vagina, continuing to pull even after meeting resistance from the cervix. The friction causes the fetus to tear apart. For example, a leg might be ripped off the fetus as it is pulled through the cervix and out of the woman. The process of evacuating the fetus piece by piece continues until it has been completely re-moved.” (US Supreme Court, Gonzales vs. Carhart, April 18, 2007, describing the D&E procedure).

In addition to doing more abortions than any other organization, PP opposes banning abortion for any reason, including late-term abortions and those committed for "birth control" or "convenience." They insist on the "right" to commit an abortion on your minor daughter and/or give her birth control, even via invasive means such as injections, without your knowledge. And they fight all legislation that would require parental consent or notification.

Planned Parenthood would like you to think they are helping women and teenage girls in particular. But the truth is, their “services” are about only one thing--more and more abortion. As you may have heard on the news, in January 2011, Planned Parenthood was caught on video at least six times advising a pimp on how to cover up human trafficking of girls as young as fourteen. You can view the video footage of Planned Parenthood employees aiding and abetting child prostitution at: http://www.liveaction.org/traffick.

For Planned Parenthood, this kind of cover-up for pimps and pedophiles is nothing new. As far back as 2002, Life Dynamics, Inc., caught over 800 Planned Parenthood clinics across the country advising a 13-year-old caller and her 22-year-old “boyfriend” about how to obtain illegal abortions to cover up the abusive relationship. You can read more details on Planned Parenthood’s willingness to aid and abet pedophiles at http://www.markcrutcherblog.com/index.cfm/2011/2/10/Pedophiles-Incorporated.

In light of these revelations, aren’t you and your fellow executives embarrassed to be Planned Parenthood donors?

Please take the time to learn more about what Planned Parenthood is doing with your donations. After you do, I urge you to re-consider your decision to give any money, no matter how small the amount, to Planned Parenthood.

Until you withdraw your support of the world’s largest abortion business, my fellow pro-lifers and I will not do business with your company.

If you would like to respond, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss Planned Parenthood’s actions further, and I will be happy to answer questions. I may be contacted at email address.

Regretfully,
Lifeletters

Please join me in writing to companies and asking them not to donate to Planned Parenthood. For a current list, go to http://www.fightpp.org.
